This is the third such incident in recent times where a student has brought a dangerous weapon to school.The Bhavnagar incident follows the murder of a Class 10 student in Ahmedabad on August 19-20 and the stabbing of a Class 8 student in Mahisagar’s Balasinor city on August 21, both involving other students.During the recess on Monday, a Class 9 student allegedly threatened a classmate with a knife following an argument, said police officials. The teachers, however, saw the weapon and immediately intervened, following which the police and the parents of the children involved were informed.According to sources, soon after the incident, the school principal alerted the police control room, following which the officials from the Ghogha road police station arrived, and took both the students to the police stations.Sharing details of the incident, Ghogha road police station in-charge, Police Inspector, CP Vaghela told the Indian Express, “During an altercation, the Class 9 student showed a knife to another student. We have booked the juvenile in conflict with law on criminal intimidation charges for threatening to kill the other student. The student was allowed to return home with his parents.”Meanwhile, to avoid any untoward incident, the police set up a security cordon at the school, according to sources. Taking into consideration the recent incidents in Ahmedabad and Mahisagar, the Bhavnagar Police have decided to hold a series of awareness meetings with students and parents of multiple schools.Bhavnagar Superintendent of Police Nitesh Pandey told the Indian Express, “We have taken serious note of the incident.
