Prince Harry is set to return to the U.K. for the first time since his security protection trial back in May of this year. While he’s in the country it would be the perfect opportunity to pay his father, King Charles a quick visit which is exactly what the prince intends to do according to inside sources. The two haven’t seen eye-to-eye for a long time, Harry’s departure back in 2020 all but severed any connection that may have remained between father and son. Subsequent years and additional royal drama have only exacerbated the situation with Harry and Meghan’s interviews and docuseries further sullying their relationship with the British royals. Prince Harry and King Charles want to make it work The last couple of months have seen a renewed effort to mend the broken relationship between Harry and Charles. A meeting between representatives for both sides took place in July and while there hasn’t been much news on it since, things seem to be going in the right direction, for the most part. Harry is set to head to the U.K. next month. He’ll be in London to attend the WellChild Awards on September 8th. What’s more, the king doesn’t have any engagements that would take him away from the U.K. during Harry’s visit which means he’ll be around to see his son. Even if he didn’t want to see him, he has little excuse not to. Speaking to the Mirror, a source claimed that the two were set on making a face-to-face meeting happen and that both were willing to accept there were issues that needed working out. “It’s clear there is now a determination on both sides to make this happen. Nobody is pretending the wider family issues have been resolved, but this is about beginning with Charles and Harry.” The source went on to claim that “reconciliation is within reach” for the first time in a long time now that the prince and king have “opened a line of communication.” According to the source, both sides feel “the time is right to take that step.” Not everyone is eager for reconciliation If this potential face-to-face meeting actually happens it will be a huge step towards peace between the royals and the Sussexes. However, one particularly important figure is still not on board: William. Harry’s got a lot more work to do to prove himself to William. The future king is apparently airing his brother’s calls and Meghan Markle is a huge factor in his decision to cut off the Sussexes. A separate source told the Mirror that “William feels Harry has repeatedly chosen public exposure over private resolution.” It seems the trust just isn’t there, maybe it’s just too late to mend this particular rift.
