Backward microscopic communities among Scheduled Castes, under the banner of Karnataka Federation of Nomadic, Semi-Nomadic and Denotified Tribes, met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday and sought separate 1% reservation in the recently carved out internal reservation matrix, as recommended by the H.N. Nagamohan Das Commission.Contrary to the recommendation, the 59 microscopic communities have now been grouped with the ‘touchable’ communities of Korama, Koracha, Lambani and Bhovi, as per the Cabinet decision.The communities have been protesting against at Freedom Park against this.Chavade Lokesh, State working president of the federation, said that the Chief Minister assured them of looking into their concerns and ensuring justice. “But we will continue our protest until our demands are met,” he said.Published - August 24, 2025 12:28 am IST
