Sewava Mukasa: Karangwa Has No Moral Authority to Lead NRM Because Kayunga is Full of NUP

By Mulengera ReportersNRM Buganda region chairperson position contestant Joseph Mukasa Sewava has sarcastically declared himself the best candidate to represent the area in the Central Executive Committee (CEC) and Kayunga-hailing Moses Karangwa the worst and least deserving for the same. Speaking to journalists at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds where thousands of delegates are to cast their votes from to determine who replaces the flamboyant Godfrey Kiwanda, Sewava said Karangwa can’t manage successfully mobilizing and marketing NRM in the whole of Buganda when Kayunga district, where he has been chairman for not less than 10 years, continues to become a conquered political territory for Bobi Wine’s NUP-and there are indicators that the rapidly-spreading umbrella trend is going to only worsen in 2026. He advised Karangwa to concentrate on marketing and mobilizing for NRM in Kayunga and forget about leading the Buganda-wide mobilization for 2026. He advised that Karangwa should liberate Kayunga first and consider the entire region in 2030 when CEC elections will once again be held. Sewava explained his Karangwa scepticism as follows: Kayunga has four MP slots namely Woman MP, Ntenjeru North & Ntenjeru South plus Bbaale County. Of these, only Ntenjeru North has an NRM MP and this is Amos Lugolobi. Woman MP Aidah Nantaba is independent and Bbale’s Charles Tebandeke and Ntenjeru North’s Patrick Nsanja are NUP. The late Sserubogo of NUP had defeated NRM to become Kayunga LC5 Chairman. Sewava says this shows how problematic Karangwa has been. “Kayunga used to be an NRM stronghold and it must be up this day but since Karangwa took charge, the party’s support there has been shrinking. He also has a lot of reputation problems, which is why delegates must vote for me Sewava because I’m scandal-free and I will unite and re-energize the party in all Buganda districts including Kayunga where Karangwa has failed,” said Sewava who also questioned the source of Karangwa’s stinking riches and wealth which has been on clear display at the Kololo Grounds.   He concluded by saying that in case delegates find him not good enough and opt to disregard him, they should feel free to choose anyone else for as long as that person isn’t Moses Karangwa. “It’s very clear to everyone that this Karangwa man has no moral authority to lead the NRM fight against NUP in Buganda. Not at this very consequential moment in time.” (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
