One Disney resort is officially updating its ticket pricing tiers.A lot has changed at Disney’s theme parks since COVID-19 (RIP free FastPasses and the Magical Express), but if there’s one change that’s left guests the most frustrated, it’s prices.Credit: DisneyToday, visiting Walt Disney World Resort can cost as much as $199 per person if you’re visiting Magic Kingdom during peak periods. Disneyland Resort has also experienced price increases, while add-ons such as Lightning Lanes (or, if you’re feeling extra spendy, Lightning Lane Premier Pass) can easily add hundreds on top of an already expensive vacation.Other elements of a Disney vacation, such as dining and merchandise, have also soared in price. The same is true at other Disney parks worldwide. While Tokyo Disney Resort – which is owned and operated by The Oriental Land Company under a licensing deal with The Walt Disney Company – is considering lowering the price of tickets to Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea to revive disappointing attendance, Disneyland Paris has also seen its ticket prices increase.Disney Resort Updating Ticket TiersOver at Shanghai Disneyland, there’s actually some good (or good-ish) news about ticket prices.Credit: Shanghai DisneyThe theme park – Disney’s newest, until the impending arrival of Disneyland Abu Dhabi – is adjusting its ticketing system from mid-October. It will add more intermediate ticket price tiers (which currently range from RMB 475/USD $66 to RMB 799/USD $112), providing visitors with more flexible options. While the lowest and highest priced ticket tiers will not change, the newly added tiers seek to narrow the price gap between adjacent tiers. Shanghai Disneyland also reportedly hopes that the changes will regulate visitor traffic throughout the year. The resort – which is home to classic Disney attractions, such as Dumbo the Flying Elephant, and more unique additions, such as Roaring Rapids, Zootopia: Hot Pursuit, and TRON Lightcycle Power Run (now replicated at Magic Kingdom) – previously increased its ticket pricing tiers from four to six. Shanghai Disneyland has yet to confirm the pricing for the new tiers.Credit: Shanghai DisneylandThis follows a string of other changes to hit Shanghai Disneyland in recent years. The park has revised its rules for children’s tickets. Previously, children under three years old – or shorter than one meter tall – on the day of their visit once received free park admission, while those aged between three and 11, or between one meter and 1.4 meters tall, received a 25% discount on their ticket. However, just like Disney parks in Florida, Anaheim, and Paris, Shanghai Disneyland started deciding whether or not a child receives free admission based solely on their age from December 2024.Meanwhile, Shanghai Disneyland also introduced a rule in 2024 that requires every guest to provide ID when booking and using a park ticket. This change was introduced in an effort to crack down on theme park ticket scalping.Have you visited Shanghai Disneyland yet?The post Disney Officially Overhauling Ticket Pricing Strategy, Effective From October appeared first on Inside the Magic.
