Disney’s Pop Century Resort has been undergoing a massive transformation this year, but we’re finally reaching the end of the overhaul. Here’s a look at what’s changed–and what’s still to come–at this fan-favorite Walt Disney World Value Resort hotel. Credit: DisneyIn late 2024, Walt Disney World Resort partially blocked off the Everything POP Shopping & Dining area at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. The food court and gift shop area operated in phases throughout the refurbishment, which included the installation of modernized but retro-inspired seating and art. That project finally wrapped up in January 2025. Weeks after that construction ended, Walt Disney World Resort announced that guest rooms throughout Disney’s Pop Century Resort will be getting a refresh from March 2025 through mid-February 2026. Amenities will remain available, but guests may notice construction or hear noise during the day. Walt Disney World Resort’s website states that the lobby “will be getting a retro-inspired refresh.” Disney Resort hotel guests may see or hear maintenance during the work, but all amenities remain available, and the lobby is still open. The project is expected to wrap up in early October.Walt Disney World Resort has also made several unannounced changes at Pop Century, including repainting the large Baloo and Mowgli Jungle Book (1967) statues near the Hippy Dippy Pool. Refurbishment projects like these are done quietly overnight or during daytime hours, when guests are busy at the Disney parks. From January 25 through January 31, 2026, the Disney Skyliner will be closed for a scheduled refurbishment. The transportation system has shut down for maintenance almost every January since it opened in 2019, but skipped annual refurbishment in 2025. During the Disney Skyliner refurbishment, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Art of Animation Resort, Riviera Resort, and Caribbean Beach Resort will offer bus transportation to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
