According to U.S. Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi, Martin had been reported missing by his family several days prior to the incident.Authorities believe he drove south from North Carolina, acquiring the firearm along the way.Law enforcement officials state that Martin was armed with a shotgun and carrying a gas canister.
