Prime Minister Robert Abela has said the launch of Vision Malta 2050 will mark a historic moment, outlining the government’s long-term plans for the next 25 years.Speaking during a youth discussion themed “I’m for Good Politics”, Abela highlighted key priorities including quality jobs, housing affordability and future-focused policies.He confirmed that a Budget 2026 measure increasing student stipends will come into force this week, while also pointing to ongoing efforts to improve access to home ownership through schemes like equity sharing.Abela said efforts will continue to bring mental health care closer to the community, announcing that the next step will be a new mental health hospital near Mater Dei.He added that a tender for the expansion of emergency services and a dedicated psychiatric ward is expected to be awarded in the coming weeks, allowing work to begin shortly after.The discussion formed part of a wider youth-focused initiative centred around the government’s long-term vision for Malta’s future.•
