A moderately shallow magnitude 5.6 earthquake was reported in the afternoon near Sarmi, Sarmi Regency, Provinsi Papua, Indonesia.According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the quake hit on Tuesday, February 24th, 2026, at 4:46 pm local time at a moderately shallow depth of 33. km.
