Walt Disney World Resort is pressing full steam ahead with the transformation of several fixtures of Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom. Here are the latest updates on the project.Tomorrowland Transformation at Magic Kingdom ParkCredit: Jeremy Thompson, FlickrOn February 11, Inside the Magic reported that Walt Disney World Resort had finally resumed a project that began two-and-a-half years ago at Magic Kingdom Park. Nearly three years ago, Central Florida Disney Park guests spotted cast members repainting faded blue rocks at the entrance to Tomorrowland, on the Cinderella Castle side. Then, the project stalled. The Central Florida sun faded the partially completed rocks, making their partially completed transformation more evident with each passing day. However, earlier this month, without making a public statement, Walt Disney World Resort finally started repainting the Tomorrowland rocks once again. The Latest UpdateCredit: Jamie S., Inside The MagicOn February 23, crews were spotted in the drained moat, which was emptied to accommodate the repainting of Cinderella Castle. WDWNT reported that, rather than repainting the rocks to their light blue-gray color, which first appeared in 2016, Walt Disney World Resort seems to be darkening them to a blue-black. See a photo below:Rolling planters block a walkway near the rocks on the Cinderella Castle side of the bridge into Tomorrowland, where most of the work is done. On the other side of the bridge, near the entrance to Tomorrowland Terrace, the rocks boast an array of color schemes: some are the light blue-gray from the paused 2023 restoration, while others that weren’t addressed during that project are a very faded gray. With the waterway drained, part of the rocks’ natural brown color is visible to Magic Kingdom Park guests.Credit: rickpilot_2000, FlickrWalt Disney World Resort has not issued a statement about this project or indicated when it will be completed. What should Walt Disney World Resort refurbish next?
