‘We are disgusted’ – Wolves publicly post ‘abhorrent’ racist abuse aimed at Tolu Arokodare in statement

Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare was subjected to racist abuse on social media following their defeat to Crystal Palace.The Premier League side shared screenshots of the abuse to Instagram alongside a damning statement.AlamyWolves have issued a statement in response to the racist abuse received by Arokodare[/caption]Arokodare has also responded to the messages on his own social media channels.Wolves labelled the numerous instances of racist abuse ‘abhorrent’.Their social media post displayed messages towards Arokodare featuring multiple racial slurs and monkey emojis.The Nigerian forward, who joined the club in the summer, played the full 90 minutes at Selhurst Park on Sunday.Arokodare saw a first half penalty saved by Dean Henderson as he missed the chance to put Wolves in front.Following the match, he held his hands up to apologise for the miss as he applauded the travelling supporters.Rob Edwards’ side were beaten 1-0 after Evann Guessand’s last minute winner for the hosts.Wolves statementSharing pictures of the racist abuse aimed at Arokodare to Instagram, the club wrote: “We are disgusted by numerous instances of racist abuse, from multiple perpetrators, directed at Tolu Arokodare on social media following today’s fixture against Crystal Palace.“There is no place for racism – in football, online, or anywhere in society. We condemn this abhorrent and unlawful behaviour in the strongest possible terms.“Tolu has our full and unwavering support.
