The Supreme Court of India has issued notice to Meta over a proposed five-year advertising ban on WhatsApp, following a recommendation by the Competition Commission of India. Earlier this month, the court criticised data-sharing practices under the 2021 privacy policy and warned against the misuse of users’ personal data. The matter is set for further hearing on April 19.
