Jenna Ortega’s life as Wednesday Addams isn’t over yet. Netflix’s hit series Wednesday has secured an early renewal for season 3—two weeks ahead of the season 2 premiere on Aug. 6, 2025. Here’s everything we know so far.Is Wednesday confirmed to return for season 3?Yes! On July 23, 2025, Netflix announced that Wednesday has been renewed for a third season. In a statement, showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar spoke about the renewal. “It’s been a dark delight to watch Wednesday cast her spell over audiences across the globe—one deadpan quip at a time,” they said. “We’re beyond thrilled she’ll be returning to stalk the halls of Nevermore in Season 3.”Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, Bela Bajaria, echoed those sentiments. “The undeniable impact of Wednesday resonated immediately with fans worldwide, driving it to the top of our charts as our most popular English language TV show, and sparking cultural trends,” she said in a statement. “We are so proud of Al Gough, Miles Millar, Tim Burton, Jenna Ortega, and the entire Wednesday cast and crew for everything they’ve accomplished. On the heels of its highly anticipated season two return, we are thrilled to renew the iconic series for a third and to deliver more of what the fans love.”Courtesy of NetflixWho is in the cast? The full list of cast members for Wednesday season 3 has yet to be announced, but a few updates have been made so far.On Nov. 25, 2025, Netflix confirmed that Eva Green (Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, Dark Shadows) will play Ophelia Frump and join the series as a regular. “I’m thrilled to join the woefully twisted world of Wednesday as Aunt Ophelia,” the actress told Tudum. “This show is such a deliciously dark and witty world, I can’t wait to bring my own touch of cuckoo-ness to the Addams family.”On Feb. 23, 2026, Variety revealed that Tim Burton favorite, Winona Ryder, will be joining the cast of Wednesday season 3 in a guest-starring role. “I am so happy that Winona has joined us, she fits right into this world,” Burton said in a statement. “And she’s a dear friend. I always feel lucky to work with her.”What will Wednesday season 3 be about?Gough and Millar gave a little teaser for what fans can expect from the forthcoming third season. “Our goal for Season 3 is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can,” Gough told Tudum. “We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday.”“We will be seeing more Addams Family members and learning more family secrets in Season 3,” Millar added. In a statement, Gough and Millar elaborated on some other expected themes. “This time, [Wednesday] will unearth more of the school’s sinister secrets—and descend even deeper into the Addams family crypt,” they shared. “Or, as Wednesday would say: ‘Nothing brings a family together like a good exhumation.’”But if you’re looking for specific plot details or casting announcements, you’ll have to wait a bit longer. “Sure [I could tell you],” said Millar, “but then I’d have to bury you in a shallow grave.”In a September 12 interview, Millar told The Wrap to expect to see more of Wednesday outside of her school.“We’ve slowly expanded the lore and there’s more,” he explained. “We love world-building. That’s something we’ve always loved to do in our shows and movies we’ve done. And there’s definitely potential to continue to expand and see more of this world, what it means to be an outcast in the world outside Nevermore.”He continued, “There are other characters that we love and it feels like we’re just dipping our toe in this world and that it can only expand from here. So it’s actually really exciting as creators to be here and to chart the course of where it could go next.”And season 2 ended with Wednesday heading off to find Enid after her wolf transformation, which Gough said was exciting because their “friendship is also really interesting, because it continues to be surprising.”Wait—is a spinoff on the way, too?Possibly! According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Wednesday team is discussing the possibility of a spinoff. “It’s something we’re definitely noodling,” Gough said. “There are other characters we can look at.” Bajaria agreed: “There’s a lot to explore in the Addams Family,” she said. This story will be updated.Additional reporting by Starr Bowenbank.Related StoriesWatch the Wednesday Season 2 TrailerWinona Ryder and Jenna Ortega Play Ask Me AnythingJenna Ortega Revives Iconic SATC Newspaper Dress
