Alexis Mac Allister has criticised Liverpool’s lack of intensity despite the club’s late win at Nottingham Forest.Mac Allister scored the decisive goal deep into stoppage time to earn Liverpool a 1-0 win at the City Ground. The Argentine bundled in from close range to snatch the points for the visitors, who had struggled to assert themselves at Forest.Forest dominated the first half as Liverpool battled to keep the hosts at bay, with the champions unable to get a foothold in the game. The Reds improved after the break but required a 97th-minute winner to take the points. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});Mac Allister, who had a goal disallowed by VAR just moments earlier, reacted quickest to a loose ball to score, after Virgil van Dijk headed across goal.Reflecting on the win, Mac Allister said he had ‘mixed feelings’ after a good result but below-part performance.Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “Mixed feelings to be honest. I love scoring, I love winning. But I don’t think we played very well. It’s always nice when you win.”Mac Allister’s first goal was disallowed in unfortunate fashion. Having charged down Ola Aina, the defender’s attempted clearance ricocheted off Mac Allister and into the goal. After a VAR check, the goal was ruled out with some contact adjudged to have been with the elbow. Mac Allister called the decision ‘harsh’ but was grateful another opportunity arrived late on.“It did (hit the elbow), but I feel like it’s a bit harsh. It’s a bit of both (with back) but I understand the rules.“I thought I would get another one. I told Hugo (Ekitike) this would be our goal. I’m glad that it went in. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});“We need to analyse what we did well and what went wrong. The intensity wasn’t there but we did what we did to win.“Florian (Wirtz) is a really good player and really important for us. It was a different shape and a different way to play. It didn’t work but we will keep working and next game we can do better.“We need points to qualify for the Champions League. Now it’s time to rest and think about the next one.”Read – The players with the most appearances in Premier League historySee more – Eight unforgettable North London Derby momentsFollow the Football Faithful on Social Media:Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | YouTubeThe post Mac Allister criticises Liverpool intensity despite late win at Nottingham Forest first appeared on The Football Faithful.
