DeepSeek is developing an artificial intelligence model with more advanced AI agent features to compete with US rivals like OpenAI in a newer frontier of the technology, according to people familiar with the matter.The Hangzhou-based startup is building an AI model that’s designed to carry out multi-step actions on a person’s behalf with minimal direction from the user, said the people. Liang Wenfeng, DeepSeek’s founder, is pushing his team to unveil the new software in the final quarter of this year, the people said. That seminal platform, which mimics the human process of reasoning, purportedly cost just several million dollars to build yet matched or surpassed OpenAI products in benchmark tests.
