At this point, it’s clear to everyone that the Republican Party has been completely assimilated by Donald Trump. Sure, there were once some hold-out ‘never-Trumpers’ amongst their ranks, but they’ve been whittled away by a GOP base that hangs on Trump’s every word. If you want a job in Washington, you’re going to have to bend the knee to Trump, and woe betide any foolish Republican who dares criticise him. This has resulted in a government run by Smithers-like yes-men, all falling over each other to lavish ridiculous praise on Dear Leader in the hopes of winning his favor. As a measure of precisely what kind of men are currently running the nation, look no further than the depressing sight of current EPA administrator Lee Zeldin. In theory, he’s supposed to be protecting Americans from polluting corporations and fighting for environmental regulations. In practice? Well, he was just interviewed on Fox News about green energy and accidentally admitted more than he should: FOX: Are you for any green energy personally?ZELDIN: Uh, well, I am for whatever President Trump is advocating for. pic.twitter.com/HvGA87gHMD— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) September 3, 2025 In response to the specific question: “Are you for any green energy personally?”, he stammered and awkwardly replied: “Uh, well, I am for whatever President Trump is advocating for.” Cult brain Dude! You’re not supposed to just come out and say that! Sure, it’s obviously true, but it breaks kayfabe to shrug and submissively admit that you have no actual opinions of your own and will go along with whatever trickles out of Trump’s addled brain. This lack of critical thinking and complete lack of dignity and shame is rife across the Trump administration, to the point where you wonder how these people can look their reflection in the eye. They know all too well that Trump is a rapidly deteriorating lunatic with a head full of bad wiring but, for the sake of their careers, must swallow their pride and regurgitate his nonsense. On a wider scale, a leader being surrounded by pathetic yes-men like Zeldin is a route straight to disaster. Fearful of delivering bad news, they’ll only tell Trump what he wants to hear, not what is actually happening. And so, the “leader of the free world” ends up trapped inside a bubble of fake reality and makes decisions on faulty data. And we’re the poor suckers who have to live with the consequences!
