HyderabadDenmark’s new Ambassador to India Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen called on Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday, and invited Danish companies to explore ties ranging from clean energy to dairy, noting that Telangana’s policy framework, infrastructure and skilled workforce create an enabling climate for investors.Given Denmark’s global leadership in clean energy, discussions focused heavily on renewable opportunities. Mr. Reddy underlined Telangana’s commitment to the green transition. “We want Hyderabad to become a net-zero city by a declared date, and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has already initiated steps like electrifying the city’s bus fleet,” he said.Mr. Kristensen explained Denmark’s “Impact Fund,” backed by major pension funds and the government’s AAA rating, which channels billions into clean energy, agriculture, water and healthcare projects worldwide. “India, and Telangana in particular, are already among the largest recipients of this fund,” he revealed. He noted that Telangana is emerging as a preferred alternative to Bengaluru, with Danish firms increasingly choosing Hyderabad for their global capability centres. “Carlsberg, for instance, has been here for years with a brewery and is now looking at further expansion,” he said.Mr. Reddy welcomed the initiatives and suggested suitable sites with assured water supply for new brewery investments, offering concessional land and water terms to Carlsberg and other Danish firms.Mr. Kristensen admitted that Denmark’s efforts to establish a model dairy project in Himachal Pradesh had faced regulatory hurdles. Mr. Reddy pitched Telangana as a better option as Telangana contributes nearly 12% of India’s milk production.Published - September 05, 2025 06:57 pm IST
