Guests hoping for some one-on-one time with Mickey Mouse will soon be left sorely disappointed at one Disney resort.Since Disneyland’s opening in 1955, Mickey Mouse has been the centerpiece of the Disney park experience. From early days greeting families on Main Street, U.S.A., to headlining parades and stage shows, the character has served as both a symbol of the company and a must-see encounter for generations of visitors.Credit: DisneyOver the decades, Disney has reimagined how guests meet Mickey. Elaborate meet-and-greet spaces, such as Mickey’s Toontown in California and Town Square Theater in Florida, gave fans a chance to step into his world. Beyond photo opportunities, Mickey has also anchored nighttime spectaculars and milestone celebrations, cementing his role as the parks’ most enduring star.In more recent years, Mickey finally received his first dedicated theme park ride: Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Debuting at Walt Disney World in 2020 and later opening at Disneyland in 2023, the attraction places guests inside a zany cartoon adventure alongside Mickey, Minnie, and friends. The ride marks a major milestone, giving the iconic character a permanent, headline attraction after decades of serving as Disney’s mascot.Credit: DisneyAt one Disney park, however, it seems like Mickey Mouse is taking a step back – at least for the time being.Fresh off the news that Disneyland Paris is shuttering its Mickey Mouse meet-and-greet, Meet Mickey, from September 8 through early 2026, it’s also been confirmed that the resort is shuttering its only in-park breakfast experience with Mickey Mouse and friends.Plaza Gardens Restaurant – which invites guests to enjoy an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet while meeting the likes of Mickey, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, and more – is closing for an indefinite refurbishment starting April 1, 2026.Credit: DisneyHowever, Mickey Mouse isn’t disappearing completely.During the closure of Plaza Gardens Restaurant, guests will reportedly have the option to meet Mickey at Auberge de Cendrillon, which is typically a princess dining experience. Notably, Auberge de Cendrillon is slightly more expensive than Plaza Gardens Restaurant. A character dining experience at Plaza Gardens Restaurant is €80 per adult ($94), while Auberge de Cendrillon is €100 per adult ($117).Another option for those hoping to dine alongside Mickey Mouse is to visit the Royal Banquet at the Disneyland Hotel, located above the entrance of Disneyland Park itself.
