(Express file photo)Maharashtra Director General of Police (DGP) Rashmi Shukla Friday held a meeting with senior police officers in Pune to review security arrangements and preparations for Ganesh idol immersion processions on the upcoming Anant Chaturdashi (Saturday).Following the final puja at the pandal of Shree Kasba Ganapati Mandal, the processions formally begin between 11 to 11.30 am on Anant Chaturdashi. This year, the police have asked the processions to begin at 9.15 am, two hours in advance.Meanwhile, the Pune police have decided to deploy 8,000 city police personnel along with the Bomb Disposal and Detection Squad, Quick Response Teams, additional police personnel from the State Reserve Police Force, and Home Guards for immersion duty. Drone cameras and additional CCTV cameras will be deployed for close monitoring of immersion processions.Also, the Pune police issued a press release stating that Pune city has about 3,959 Ganesh mandals.
