Dealing with harassment from men is unfortunately something most, if not all, women endure. Encounters such as this can range from annoying to (in most cases) outright terrifying, especially if on your own. However, one woman has curated a perfect response to men trying to approach her when she’s alone, and she’s shared her technique with the rest of TikTok. Gaby (Merlinstan69) shared the video featuring her at a bus stop with a group of men off camera trying to talk to her. One can be heard saying “he can’t talk to you properly,” clearly addressing Gaby. Evidently the harassment had been going on prior to the start of the video and we can assume Gaby likely tried the reasonable approach of telling the men to leave her alone before she started recording. Luckily she has a trick up her sleeve which worked to get the men to leave her alone. What’s the trick you ask? It’s simple, Gaby starts screaming like a feral animal and running towards the group. @merlinstan69 mans was running #hackney ♬ sonido original – Todo Música As you can see, the technique is quite effective. The men, likely not knowing how to respond, cower in fear and back away instantly. TikTok loves Gaby’s solution Viewers praised Gaby’s bold strategy, “actually love this,” wrote one, “complete disarms their ability to be secretive, while also asserting yourself and showing them they have no right to your time.” Another added, “gotta hit em with the laura palmer scream.” Some even gave examples of them using the technique themselves, one person shared a story in which some men tried to convince her to get in their car, “I just did this and they left me alone.” Another wrote, “I’ve done this for years,” adding, “I sometimes speak in tongues as well. This really freaks them out.” Meanwhile, plenty of viewers were mad that this is what many women are forced to resort to just to get men to leave them alone, “The fact you even have to do this it annoys me no means no if you don’t want to talk.” The fact that Gaby was alone and being harassed by what looks to be a group of three men also didn’t sit right, “No but are 3 GROWN BIG MEN surrounding you like that?!” Asked one exasperated viewer. Unfortunately, harassment from men is not entirely uncommon for many women. Oftentimes, a simple “no” doesn’t suffice, as many have found. Gaby’s solution isn’t a perfect solution, but it could certainly prove useful to anyone who ever finds themself in a similar situation to her.
