HYDERABADMinister for SC Development Adluri Laxman Kumar said that celebrations of Jagjivan Ram Jayanti should go beyond ceremonial observances and serve as a renewed commitment to advancing the Dalit self-respect movement.Addressing a programme on Sunday, organised to mark the 119th birth anniversary of Babu Jagjivan Ram, the Minister said that the Congress party has consistently stood by Dalits, the poor, and marginalised sections of society. Recalling Jagjivan Ram’s contributions, Mr. Laxman Kumar described him as a towering leader who symbolised the dignity and aspirations of Dalits. He said Jagjivan Ram’s struggle against caste discrimination continues to inspire present and future generations.The Minister announced that the State government is constructing Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan at Nimboli Adda in Kacheguda at an estimated cost of ₹30 crore. He said that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has approved the project.He further stated that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Knowledge Park is being developed at Lower Tank Bund at a cost of Rs 100 crore. Laxman Kumar also announced that a new hostel building with modern amenities will be constructed for the Nibmoli Adda Hostel to improve facilities for students.The programme was attended Ministers Vivek Venkataswamy and Damodar Raja Narasimha, MPs, MLAs and others leaders.Published - April 05, 2026 09:30 pm IST
