Iran’s Supreme Leader reportedly only a figurehead, with severe injuries to his head, spine, and limbs leaving him unable to play any role in the ruling of the Islamic Republic.By World Israel News StaffIranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has had no role in governing the Islamic Republic since he was tapped to replace his father last month, according to a report published over the weekend, after he suffered serious injuries in the same Israeli airstrike that killed his father. On Sunday, The Media Line published a report citing a source at an Iranian hospital where the younger Khamenei is said to be receiving treatment for the injuries sustained in the February 28 bombing of the Supreme Leader’s office in Tehran. While a council of senior Iranian clerics formally appointed Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran’s third Supreme Leader on March 8, he has remained a figurehead, the report said, playing no part in the governance of Iran. The source cited by the report indicated that Mojtaba remains seriously injured more than a month after the airstrike that killed a number of top Iranian officials.Mojtaba is said to still be in an intensive care unit at an underground location. One of the Supreme Leader’s arms and at least one of his legs has been paralyzed and was likely amputated. He also suffered brain damage, spinal cord lesions, a dislocated jaw, and severe trauma to his face, the hospital source said.Despite undergoing a number of surgeries, Mojtaba has been unable to attend any meetings with other senior Iranian officials, and he is slated to undergo a number of additional operations. While some Iranian officials last month downplayed the extent of his injuries, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has said that Mojtaba was likely disfigured, with President Donald Trump suggesting the Iranian leader is either dead or severely injured.Iran’s own messaging has done little to settle the issue. State-linked media have referred to Khamenei as a janbaz, a term often used for a wounded or disabled veteran, but no widely distributed recent images or live appearances have clarified the extent of his injuries. The post Mojtaba not leading Iran after suffering brain damage, amputations – report appeared first on World Israel News.
