Tottenham face Maghnes Akliouche blunder: £10m price rise and Premier League competition

Wait 5 sec.

Tottenham Hotspur now run the risk of losing out on one of their long-term target Maghnes Akliouche, who is now on the radar of an English giant.Tottenham Hotspur are long-term admirers of Maghnes Akliouche, with interest going as far back as last summer, when he emerged as an option for the number ten role following a series of failed moves by Tottenham, before they eventually signed Xavi Simons. In the winter window, Spurs once again reignited their interest in Akliouche, who was reported to be available for £50 million, but again, no deal materialised. It has since been revealed that AS Monaco did not allow for Akliouche to move in the winter because they wanted to keep hold of him for their Champions League run. But Spurs could now miss out on the 23-year-old this summer.Photo by Nicolò Campo/LightRocket via Getty ImagesLiverpool joins race for Tottenham target Maghnes AklioucheAccording to Fichajes, the Monaco man is now understood to be attracting attention from Premier League giants Liverpool. It is explained that the Reds see Akliouche as a long-term replacement for Mohammed Salah, who has confirmed his departure from Liverpool this season.Akliouche has registered 15 goal contributions this campaign and could cost around £60 million – £10 million more than it would have taken to lure him away from Ligue 1 in the winter.Liverpool, however, will still look to negotiate a reasonable price for the 23-year-old.Spurs need attacking depth as Maghnes Akliouche’s race heats upThis will no doubt serve as a big blow for Tottenham, who are also in need of a wide forward given the lack of depth in that area of the pitch.Mohammed Kudus, as it stands, represents the only right-wing option available to Roberto De Zerbi, which is far from ideal for the new boss.Kudus has been sidelined for 97 days after picking up an injury this season, and if there is no one to provide cover again next campaign, the wide man could well be run into the ground. Akliouche represents an option for Tottenham, and it remains to be seen if they will join the race for the Frenchman once again.READ MORE: ‘I wish I could go and help Tottenham’ – Mikey Moore wants to become ‘best in the world’The post Tottenham face Maghnes Akliouche blunder: £10m price rise and Premier League competition appeared first on Spurs Web.
