After 2 downed jets and 6 damaged aircraft in a single day, Trump doubles down on his war crime rhetoric, promises to ‘reign down’ hell on Iran

Wait 5 sec.

After repeatedly telling the public that Iran’s military had been “completely decimated,” Donald Trump spent this weekend discovering that Iran apparently didn’t get the memo. On Friday, an F-15E Strike Eagle went down in southern Iran, sending rescue crews scrambling in a desperate, long-hours search to find the two pilots. Then an A-10 Thunderbolt II, deployed to provide cover for those rescuers near the Strait of Hormuz, took a hit from Iranian air defenses, forcing its pilot to eject before the aircraft crashed in Kuwait. Two Blackhawk helicopters involved were also struck by Iranian fire, causing injuries to those on board. When the U.S. military extracted one of the pilots, the search continued through to the next day, per The Wall Street Journal, resulting in deadly clashes across Iranian terrain. The president has since confirmed that the second pilot has been extracted, and though he’s “seriously wounded,” the mission was an absolute success, with the little caveat that the military might have lost as many as four other aircraft during the raid, including two Blackhawk helicopters and two C-130 planes. So yes, folks, it’s all going swimmingly, but only if you ask President Trump and former television personality-turned-Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. Trump isn’t done playing dice with global stability The POTUS recently touted destroying one of Iran’s longest bridges, an attack that many experts are saying amounts to war crimes. Now, as the war escalates and the “complete air superiority” narrative shatters in front of our eyes, Trump is doubling down on his threats by saying that he’ll go after Iran’s power plants next. “48 hours before all Hell will reign [sic] down on them. Glory be to GOD!” he wrote yesterday, with the enthusiasm of a man who truly thinks he’s in the middle of a holy crusade. Since the post went online, Iran’s IRGC has attacked petrochemical sites in three Gulf countries, per Aljazeera, vowing that they’ll hit the U.S. and its allies harder if Trump continues to attack Iran’s civilian infrastructure. The president is not swayed, not by the attacks that are causing the global economy billions of dollars in damage, and certainly not by the threats. Taking to Truth Social once again on Sunday, he wrote: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah.” via Truth Social Praise be to Allah? Seriously? I guess those Geneva Conventions don’t apply when God slash Allah are on your side. Then again, from a guy who thinks “reign” and “rain” are interchangeable, legal nuance was never really in the cards.
