2026 could be a defining year for Samsung, which ushered in the foldable smartphone era seven years ago. With Apple expected to enter the foldable phone segment for the first time, Samsung needs a device that can stand up to this new competition. That device is expected to be the Galaxy Z Fold 8, and its specifications have reportedly leaked.The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is said to feature a 6.5-inch cover display and an 8-inch foldable display, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, its foldable screen reportedly uses a dual-Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) structure along with a laser-drilled metal support plate. OPPO recently showcased its own ‘Zero Crease Feel' display on the OPPO Find N6.The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is also expected to feature a faster processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, paired with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage. It will reportedly be powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast wired charging. This would mark a significant upgrade over its predecessorâs 4,400mAh battery and 25W charging.The device could feature a 200MP primary rear camera with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. It is also expected to include two front-facing cameras, likely in the 10MP or 12MP range.The phone is also said to be thinner and lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 7. If true, this would represent an impressive engineering achievement, as reducing thickness and weight while increasing battery capacity and maintaining hinge strength is a significant challenge.
