The Msida Local Council has criticised Infrastructure Malta over safety concerns linked to roadworks in Triq Rue D’Argens, stating that action was only taken after public pressure. In a statement, the council said the situation posed a “serious danger” to pedestrians after access along part of the road was blocked, forcing people to walk alongside moving traffic. The council explained that despite repeated complaints, action was not taken immediately. It said the issue was only addressed after Mayor Charles Selvaggi published a video highlighting the risk.Footage shared with authorities reportedly showed pedestrians navigating narrow spaces next to vehicles, with even buses forced to wait due to limited room. The council also claimed that complaints from both councillors and residents are often ignored or delayed, calling for stronger monitoring and proactive safety measures during ongoing works. It added that its priority remains the safety of residents and the public, stressing that enforcement should prevent risks before they escalate.Do you agree with the local council?•
