Singer Kazibwe Kapo has opened up about what he believes is holding back the growth of Kadongo Kamu compared to other music genres.According to Kapo, while there is a growing number of young artists showing interest in Kadongo Kamu, many lack the work ethic required to thrive in the genre. He emphasized that Kadongo Kamu is uniquely demanding because it is rooted in storytelling, a skill that not many are willing or able to master.“There are rising stars in Kadongo Kamu at the moment, but they are not hardworking. First of all, Kadongo Kamu has one problem, it is not simple like the rest of the genres. It is a genre of storytelling where you have to narrate from start to end.” Kapo further noted that many aspiring artists who approach established musicians for guidance often lack commitment and resilience. He believes some entrants view Kadongo Kamu as an easy alternative rather than a craft that requires dedication and discipline.Pressure 247 faces indefinite remand after court case relocation“The artists we receive in Kadongo Kamu are weak, and some think it is a genre where failures go. Even those who show interest often come with personal struggles, narrating stories of hardship like losing parents at a young age or dropping out in Primary Five. It is rare to find those who have completed university education.” Kazibwe Kapo is one of the long serving genres stars who is still active.
