How are we feeling about free writing tests as part of the interview process? I’m so sick of it. I was recently asked to do a nine page “test” that before I received it I was told it should take about 30 to 40 minutes. Then I took a look at the actual writing test and it was very elaborate. I ended up spending about eight hours on it because I thought I was a serious contender for the role and they expressed great interest in me. I ended up not getting hired and completely ghosted and never even thanked for the hard work. I look at the site periodically to see if any of my copy was used. I will go after them if it ever is (and blast them on LinkedIn). The audacity of asking for elaborate free work…it’s just beyond. Companies are taking such advantage, knowing that the market is so difficult but then again they have been doing this for years. I have fallen victim to the free work to get a job cycle about three times. Once I was hired but the company was toxic and I’m no longer there. Anyone have similar experiences? What companies have you encountered that are notorious for this? One company notorious for this is Havenly. submitted by /u/Hungry_Base_7143 [link] [comments]
