I think you may be misunderstanding me; I am not saying giftedness is the same thing as autism (having both is called "twice exceptional); just that they are on the same neurodivergent spectrum. I refer to it as being on a different place on that spectrum for the exact reasons you describe; they have crossover traits, but different needs.
