Indian Oil buys first Iranian LPG since 2018 as crunch worsens

Indian Oil Corporation has bought LPG from Iran for the first time in nearly eight years as India faces a supply crunch due to the Middle East conflict disrupting shipments via the Strait of Hormuz. The cargo, about 43,000 tonnes, will be shared with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, but is enough for only half a day’s demand. Shortages have forced rationing and pushed some households to alternative fuels.
