Aw, I had a pet rat that had his own room when I was single! But back to my husband and the dogs: if his human family needs food, my husband isn't talking rehoming: he's telling the dogs he might eat them if necessary, as much as he adores them. We all laugh at this example of where the line is drawn on valuing pets vs humans. And hope he's joking. (He's from middle of nowhere country so...)
