Disney Closes Iconic Main Street Area at Magic Kingdom, Access Denied to Families

Wait 5 sec.

Walt Disney World Resort continues to block off parts of the iconic walkway toward Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom Park: Main Street, U.S.A. Walt Disney originally created this land for Disneyland Park as an homage to growing up in turn-of-the-century America, inspired by his hometown of Marceline, Missouri. As part of the ongoing refurbishment, parts of the area are inaccessible to Central Florida Disney Park guests.Construction on Main Street, U.S.A., at Magic Kingdom Parkmagic-kingdom-main-street-crowds-nicholas-fuentes-unsplashInside the Magic first reported on the construction on Magic Kingdom Park’s Main Street, U.S.A., last week. Stanchions connected by ropes appeared around a large chunk of sidewalk outside the Crystal Arts store, preventing Disney Park guests from walking in the area.On March 23, Walt Disney World Resort guests arrived at Magic Kingdom Park to find that the pavement repair had been completed overnight. WDWNT shared a photo on Monday showing freshly poured pavement outside Crystal Arts, obviously new compared to the worn walkway nearby. The area outside Crystal Arts is still roped off and stanchioned, presumably allowing it to finish drying without damage from Magic Kingdom Park guests. During high-traffic times, such as parades and rope drop, Disney cast members are stationed throughout the blocked-off area, directing guests to active walkways.Credit: Inside the MagicDown the road a bit, a damaged section of sidewalk is covered by red and yellow boards, making it safer for guests to walk on until the pavement can be repaired. Presumably, it will get the same treatment as the section outside Crystal Arts.Walt Disney World Resort has not issued a public statement on this refurbishment or said how much of the pavement on Main Street, U.S.A., it plans to repair.
