Marjorie Taylor Greene recently hit out at prominent conservatives and other Republicans, claiming the party is headed for a “slaughter” in the upcoming midterm elections. Per Newsweek, her fiery post arrived just as Democrats secured some significant special election victories. “I’d like to congratulate two time Congressional candidate loser Laura Loomer, MIGA foreign op Mark Levin, and Neocon murdering psycho Senator Lindsey Graham for leading Republicans into slaughter going into midterms. Your incessant lies to President Trump have destroyed all faith in the GOP,” Greene wrote on X. She also included a screenshot from InteractivePolls, noting that Democrats had flipped 12 legislative seats in special elections since last year. Just two days earlier, Democrats pulled off some surprising wins in Florida. Notably, Newsweek reported that Emily Gregory, a small business owner and first-time candidate, won a special election for Florida’s 87th House District, a district that includes Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. She defeated Republican Jon Maples, whom Trump had personally endorsed, by 797 votes. I can’t believe how funny I find this Senate District 14, where registered republicans outnumber democrat voters by 22,000, flipped blue with an even narrower lead, 50.25% to 49.75%. However, it is enough to mark an ongoing trend where previously republican areas like Texas are voting for democrat candidates in the face of Trump’s controversial policies. We have even seen this with previously hardline MAGA influencers like Nick Fuentes. This trend, amongst other Trump and Trump official actions, seems to have been the trigger for Greene. She reminded everyone “that when I led the party on the campaign trail fighting for America First in ‘22 and ‘24, all the GOP did was win win win!” She then expressed her refusal to fight for Trump and the Republican Party, citing a fallout over the release of the Epstein files and other key policy issues she disagrees with.
