My ex had to get an internal defibrillator/pacemaker, it was emergency surgery, and he was out the same day. Battery replacement, on the other hand, is not an emergency... she would have had plenty of notice and time to prepare. Talking about how she is out of animal food when she would have had such a long time to prepare just blows my mind.
