Two of the top offenses in the country will clash in the Sweet 16 as the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Michigan Wolverines square off in the Midwest Region of the NCAA Tournament. The Crimson Tide made it to the Elite Eight last season, while Michigan hasn’t been there since 2021. Which offense will prevail? Find out belowAlabama vs Michigan best betsLabaron Philon 20+ points: -220 with FanDuelAiden Sherrell 1+ 3-point shot made: -130 with FanDuelYaxel Lendeborg 20+ points: +155 with BetMGMIn addition to ranking third in offensive efficiency (129.6), the Crimson Tide averages the most points per game at 91.6. In fact, only two teams in the entire country average 90 points or more per game. This team is loaded with scorers as six players average double-digit points, led by Labaron Philoon’s 21.6 points. Alabama’s biggest problem, a recurring one, is its defense. They’re 60th in defensive efficiency (102.3) and allow 82.5 points per game, which is 343rd in the nation. To get here, Alabama went through Hofstra and Texas Tech and beat them by a combined 45 points. Now, in the Sweet 16, they’ll face the No. 1 seed in their region and one of the best teams in the country, the Wolverines. The Wolverines are sixth in offensive efficiency (127.7) and second in defensive efficiency (89.9). They’re led by Big Ten Player of the Year and consensus first-team All-American Yaxel Lendeborg, who averages 14.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. Michigan allowed 80 points to Howard, but still beat them by 21. In the second round, they handled Saint Louis, beating them by 23. Alabama vs Michigan previewAlabama is a team that’s going to go for layups and is also willing to take 50 3-point shots if needed. Michigan’s 3-point shooting percentage allowed is elevated over their last three games, though, yes, most of that came against Howard. Still, they struggled to defend the perimeter in the Big Ten Tournament. While Alabama’s defense makes it hard to trust them, this offense can be explosive, so 9.5 points is simply too many to leave on the table. I know Michigan’s game plan will be to defend the perimeter, but Alabama’s volume of 3-point shooting will keep it within nine. Alabama vs Michigan betting tipsFind the latest odds for Alabama vs Michigan courtesy of FanDuel. He’s had 20 points or more in 20 of 32 games this season, including in four of his last five. However, to be fair, he’s coming off a poor performance, scoring just nine points against Texas Tech after shooting just 2 of 12 from the field, including missing all four of his 2-point tries. Michigan is second in defensive efficiency (89.9), but in the first round against Howard, they allowed two players to eclipse 20 points. Philon is coming off a poor performance, but he’ll bounce back here to keep pace with another potent offense in Michigan. The odds for 25+ points is +136, and I’d be open to that, too, with a half-unit wager, but I’m going to respect Michigan’s defense.  Back Labaron Philon to have 20 points or more against Michigan at -220 with FanDuel Aiden Sherrell 1+ 3-point shot madeSherrell is far from the best 3-point shooter on the Crimson Tide, shooting 33.3% from beyond the arc, averaging 0.8 makes and 2.3 attempts per game. However, he’s shot close to 43% from beyond the arc over the first two tournament games, making three of seven attempts. This season, he’s had at least one make in 19 of 33 games. Also, over their last three games, Michigan’s allowed 3-point shooting percentage is up to 37.3%, much higher than their season-long average of 30.8%.  Back Aiden Sherrell to have 1 3-point shot made or more against Michigan at -130 with FanDuel Yaxel Lendeborg 20+ pointsAgainst Saint Louis, Landeborg put up 25 points on 9 of 13 shooting, which included going 3 of 5 from beyond the arc. Additionally, while he had only nine points against Howard, he logged 20 against Purdue, one of the top offenses in the country. I mentioned offense because, like Purdue, Alabama is going to score, and this will force players like Landeborg to rise to the occasion. Purdue is much better defensively than Alabama, too. As mentioned, Alabama is 60th in defensive efficiency (102.3).Given the +155 odds and Landeborg’s presence on the team, 20 seems more than doable.  Back Yaxel Lendeborg to have 20 points or more against Michigan at +155 with BetMGM Alabama vs Michigan injury reportBelow are the key injuries to report ahead of this contest.Alabama Crimson TideOut: Collins Onyejiaka (center) – undisclosedQuestionable: Aden Holloway (guard) – personal; Keitenn Bristow (forward) – undisclosed; Davion Hannah (guard) – undisclosedDoubtful: N/AMichigan WolverinesOut: L.J.
