The commander of the Iranian Navy, Shahram Irani, sent a threat to the United States, saying that "the moment the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln enters our firing range, all of Abraham Lincoln's movements and its requests to countries in the region are under close Iranian surveillance. Iranian forces control the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, east of the Strait, and the Gulf of Oman."
