Master Service Agreement - to sign or not to sign?

Wait 5 sec.

I'm relatively new at freelancing (I'm a freelance copywriter) and was recently requested by a company I interviewed with for ongoing freelance work to sign a Master Service Agreement (MSA) Prior to this, I was offering my services and charging per project, with invoices per individual project and so on. This is the first time I've encountered something like an MSA. I haven't seen the contract yet (they are going to send it over next week) so I'll have the opportunity to review it for any questionable clauses. Something rubs me the wrong way about signing an MSA. I've asked my other freelancing friends about this and they have never signed one, they've only tackled tasks and charged per project. I'm sure it can be above board, but I am also looking for full-time work so I am weary about being bound by a contract for any length of time for a company such as this. Has anyone encountered this type of contract before and signed it (or didn't)? Again, I'm relatively experienced in the world of freelancing so this very well could be a completely normal practice - just wondering about fellow freelancer's opinions on this sort of thing.
