Flameaway’s Dark Saffron Takes Consecutive Dubai Golden Shaheens

Wait 5 sec.

Another year, another win by Dark Saffron (Flameaway) in the G1 Dubai Golden Shaheen on Dubai World Cup night. On a night of nights for trainer Ahmad bin Harmash and jockey Connor Beasley who had taken the G1 Al Quoz Sprint with Native Approach (Too Darn Hot) one race prior, the duo combined again here. The gelding won the break and streaked immediately to the head of affairs from his outside draw, but was soon joined by 2024 Dubai Golden Shaheen winner Tuz (Oxbow). That rival kicked ahead of Dark Saffron, who kept a keen eye on that foe for the rest of the backstretch.Cruising closer on the bend, he took over before the quarter pole and, despite the best efforts of GI Breeders' Cup Sprint hero Bentornato (Valiant Minister), held firm in 1:10.68. The winning margin was 1 3/4, with Cats By Five (Audible) taking third, another 2 3/4 lengths back.Bred by Brookdale Farm, LLC, Dark Saffron is owned by Sultan Ali and he was last seen running second in the G3 Mahab Al Shimaal on Super Saturday. The Dubai Golden Shaheen is a “Win and You're In” for the GI Breeders' Cup Sprint at Keeneland in the autumn. All change in the straight!Mufasa, Dark Saffron and Rabaah set a hot pace out in front and they paid for their early fractions with El Nasseeb able to steal the show with an impressive display in the Listed Al Garhoud Sprint… pic.twitter.com/vtjZYH537h— At The Races (@AtTheRaces) December 5, 2025The post Flameaway’s Dark Saffron Takes Consecutive Dubai Golden Shaheens appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
