University of Malta has announced that Frank Bezzina has been elected as its 82nd Rector.Prof. Bezzina will officially begin his five-year term on 1st July 2026, taking over from Alfred J. Vella, who has held the position since 2016.The role of Rector is the highest academic office within the university, responsible for leading its strategic direction and representing the institution both locally and internationally.Prof. Vella’s tenure spanned nearly a decade, marking a significant period of leadership at the university.The announcement signals a new chapter for the University of Malta as it prepares for the transition in leadership later this year.•
