The Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) confirmed that its Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team successfully handled two separate reports of suspected unexploded ordnance discovered in different parts of the country over the past 24 hours.The first incident took place in Rabat on Friday evening, when authorities were alerted to a suspicious object found inside a private residence. Upon inspection, the item was identified as a Second World War-era British 3.7-inch projectile. Officers from the Malta Police Force assisted at the scene.The device was safely removed and transported to the AFM’s controlled facilities in Pembroke, where it was disposed of under secure conditions yesterday morning.In a separate case reported on Saturday morning, emergency services received a call via the 112 helpline regarding two suspicious items discovered in the limits of Buġibba. The projectile, however, was transported to Pembroke and safely disposed of in line with established procedures.Authorities noted that discoveries of historical wartime ordnance are not uncommon in Malta and urged the public to exercise caution.
