Samsung has spent billions of dollars building a state-of-the-art chipmaking facility in Taylor, Texas. Mass production of highly advanced 2nm GAA chips is expected to start in a few months. Production capacity for 2nm chips is in high demand and Samsung is one of the very few companies in the world that has this capability. With the production lines start churning out these chips, it would deliver a massive boost for domestic manufacturing in the United States. It will be among the first to make 2nm chips in the USA new report highlights that ASML is putting together a new team to help Samsung with the installation of its EUV machines. Samsung's 2nm GAA chips can't be made without ASML's EUV equipment. Job postings indicate that ASML is hiring a “field service engineer” in Austin to support the initialization of the equipment at Samsung's facility in Taylor, Texas.The Exynos 2600 will be one of the first products to be manufactured on the 2nm process at scale. The 2nm process is also crucial for building next-generation memory chips, AI chips, and other silicon. There's an insatiable demand in the world right now from some of the top tech companies for 2nm manufacturing.The United States has been pushing to become an invaluable part of the chip supply chain. This has led to leading foundry companies like Samsung and TSMC to set up advanced chipmaking plants in the country. The Taylor plant has been one of Samsung's biggest chipmaking investments out of South Korea so its significance is quite evident.
