Sunderland haven't beaten Arsenal in the Premier League since the 21st of November 2009 in a game that ended 1-0 with a goal from Darren Bent. Sunderlandβs recent home games tend to be low-scoring affairs, with six of their last seven (That was not on purpose, I promise) league matches producing under 2.5 goals. βπΌ Pre-Match Ramblings And here we are at the final game of what has been an absolutely brutal run of fixtures which we have managed to get through without conceding a single goal (so far). Sunderland have got off to a flying start on their return to the top flight, so this has always been a looming one that seems like it could be a challenge. After massive investment in the summer Sunderland are looking very strong in their pursuit to stay up, and could even push for European football if they can keep up their great form. Granit Xhaka has transformed them into a strong looking Premier League team and will start tomorrow against his old club. He has spoken extensively about his time at Arsenal with only positive things to say despite a rocky tenure at the club. Arsenal are licking their lips at the international break with a huge list of injuries completely decimating our attacking options. Our only two natural front line players available are Saka and Trossard, with Merino our only option up front. This may not be a bad thing, as the Spaniard bagged two goals midweek against Slavia Prague. He is a different presence up front than Gyokeres, with defending teams giving him far less respect in and around the box than our flagship striker. This may be giving him an advantage of being unpredictably good in the box, hence his goalscoring. I would imagine that Sunderland will keep a much keener eye on him up front than Slavia Prague did on Tuesday. With Manchester City and Liverpool facing off at the Etihad on Sunday, a win at the Stadium of Light gives us a chance of going 8 and 9 points clear of our titles rivals respectively if that fixtures ends in a draw. For now though, let's focus on capping off this run of games with another win and another clean sheet. https://anditsarsenal.com/2025/11/07/sunderland-vs-arsenal-8th-november-2025-premier-league-match-preview/ submitted by /u/Mahoganychicken [link] [comments]
