The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday (November 6, 2025) trapped two officials from the Civil Supplies Department in Asifabad district while accepting a bribe of ₹75,000 for extending an official favour.According to ACB officials, the accused officer, Gurubelli Venkat Narasimha Rao, District Manager of the Civil Supplies Department, Asifabad, was trapped near Kagaznagar X Road in Adilabad district. The bribe was demanded from a rice mill owner to allow the transportation of three lorries loaded with PDS rice to the Civil Supplies godown in Asifabad without conducting a quality check.Investigations revealed that Narasimha Rao had instructed his subordinate, Technical Assistant (Outsourcing) Kothagolla Manikanth, to demand the bribe on his behalf. Acting on a complaint, ACB officials laid a trap and recovered the bribe amount from Narasimha Rao’s possession.The two accused were arrested and produced before the special court for ACB cases in Karimnagar. Further investigation is underway.The bureau has urged citizens to report any instances of bribery by public servants by dialling the toll-free number 1064 or through its official social media platforms.
