The distribution of social security pensions in the State will begin after November 20, Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal has announced.The beneficiaries will receive ₹3,600 each, which includes the revised monthly pension of ₹2,000 and the final instalment of ₹1,600 in arrears.The Minister was speaking after inaugurating the construction of the Nedumbram panchayat stadium here on Saturday. He also launched road development works under the Chief Minister’s Local Road Rebuilding Scheme, including the Vadasserilpadi–Naalonnilpadi Road and the Shmashanam Road.Highlighting the State’s achievements over the last decade, the Minister said that Kerala has witnessed major progress at the local self-government level with comprehensive development in sectors such as roads, bridges, schools, and hospitals. “The government has successfully created employment opportunities and will further expand them by integrating Information Technology through the Knowledge Kerala initiative,” he said.Under the Connect to Work programme, job opportunities will be provided to five lakh educated youth. The Chief Minister’s special scheme for rural infrastructure has also earmarked ₹1,000 crore for the development of village roads.Mr. Balagopal added that the tender procedures for the panchayat stadium will be expedited and construction will begin shortly.
