A 58-year-old man died after being assaulted by a group of six men following a dispute over garbage collection areas in KPHB Colony late on Friday night.The victim, identified as Boya Nettikallu, a garbage collector living in the 9th Phase of KPHB Colony, was attacked outside his home by six men led by Raju, a fellow worker from the same trade.According to the police, Raju had earlier demanded that Nettikallu’s family share part of their garbage collection route with him. When they refused, Raju, along with Veeranna, Naresh, Urukundu, Anil and Ramanjaneyulu, went to the victim’s residence around 11.45 p.m. and began abusing his family. They allegedly damaged two of the family’s vehicles before attacking Nettikallu with an iron rod and sticks when he tried to intervene.The complainant, Nettikallu’s wife, Laxmi, told the police that the attackers also beat her and other family members when they tried to stop them. Hearing their cries for help, neighbours rushed out, forcing the assailants to flee the scene.Nettikallu, who was left unconscious, was taken to Gandhi Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.The KPHB police booked a case of murder and initiated a probe.
