President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has commissioned 498 Officer Cadets of Intake 19/25 (Long) at the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Basic Military Training School in Kaweweta, Nakaseke District.Presiding over the ceremony, the President described the graduates as “young patriots” joining an army built on the foundations of patriotism, Pan-Africanism, discipline, professionalism, and resilience.“I commend the CDF and the leadership of the UPDF for maintaining this tradition of excellence,” Museveni said, applauding the institution’s continued commitment to high standards in military training. The Head of State further noted that the cadets had undertaken a 177-kilometre trek named after Gen. Salim Saleh, which he said was a tribute to Uganda’s “heroic past” and a reminder of the sacrifices made during the liberation struggle.Museveni also lauded the inclusion of officer cadets from other African nations—Tanzania, Somalia, Mali, and the Central African Republic—saying it underscored the spirit of Pan-African cooperation.“This cooperation with our African brothers is proof that Africa can manage her own affairs,” he stated. The commissioning ceremony marks yet another milestone in the UPDF’s ongoing efforts to strengthen regional security collaboration and build a professional, ideologically grounded force. The post Museveni Commissions 498 New UPDF Officer Cadets, Hails Pan-African Cooperation appeared first on The Insider.
