Sheebah Karungi failed to appear in court today after being summoned in a copyright dispute filed by her former manager Jeff Kiwa of Team No Sleep Entertainment. The case, currently before the High Court’s Commercial Division, stems from allegations that Sheebah continues to perform songs that Team No Sleep (TNS) claims ownership over. Kiwa, through TNS, is seeking to defend the label’s rights while also counter-suing the singer over what they describe as unauthorized use of their intellectual property.Sheebah and Jeff while chilling Credit: Sheebah and Jeff KiwaThe latest development follows a legal battle that began in July 2025, when Sheebah, through her lawyers at SM & Co. Advocates, issued a formal notice accusing TNS of exploiting her work. She also called for the immediate removal of her songs from all digital platforms and distribution channels controlled by the label.Aroma shares why she couldn’t keep up with Jeff Kiwa’s TNSTNS has since pushed back strongly, with Kiwa maintaining that the contested songs were produced and managed under his supervision during Sheebah’s time at the label, and therefore remain part of the TNS catalogue. His legal move to court signals a firm stance in defending what he considers rightful ownership. The dispute highlights the long-standing tensions between the two parties, who parted ways in late 2021 after years of working together and building Sheebah’s career into one of the most successful in Uganda’s music industry. The post Copyright dispute: Sheebah Karungi and Team No Sleep clash in court appeared first on MBU.
