Alex Borg has announced a €9 million fund for Gozo’s culture industry, saying the investment would help transform the island into a stronger cultural and tourism hub.Speaking during a press conference outside Gozo General Hospital, the PN leader unveiled the proposal as part of a wider package of over 110 measures for Gozo under the slogan “A Fresh Breath for Gozo and Gozitans.”The proposed fund would be aimed at theatres, cultural centres and artistic spaces across Gozo, helping upgrade facilities, restore existing buildings, support expansion projects and redevelop cultural sites.Borg said the plan would also seek to attract higher-quality tourism to the island, while strengthening Gozo’s identity as a destination rooted in heritage, arts and culture. In addition, organisations and operators would be offered free professional advisory services to help them access available European Union funding opportunities. The culture fund formed part of a much broader vision for Gozo that also included proposals on healthcare, transport, roads, youth spaces, education and disability services. With Gozo often calling for more direct investment, Borg’s proposal places the island’s creative sector at the centre of future economic growth. What do you think of this? View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)•
