Find a cheap Cake cookbook, maybe at a thrift store (or heck just buy one on Amazon) and if she ever makes another comment about the cakes again, give her the book and say"you're always expressing so much interest in home-baked cakes, this book was really important to me, and I think you'd enjoy it. What's better than being given a fish than learning how to fish yourself?!"
