I’m asking this because as a North African I’m brokenhearted and appalled by the division and racism that have been resurfacing here in the recent years. I remember when most of the sub-saharan population in here were college students, nobody batted an eyelash, even though I’m pretty sure some people might I’ve been racist within themselves, because that exists everywhere. But with the rise of a sudden and abnormally large wave of illegal immigration in the recent years, which also resulted in a lot of homelessness, higher crime rates, etc, a vicious wave of racism also appeared. Some of it is warranted when you criticize and want to deport the troublemakers who genuinely pose a threat, but when it’s based on where you’re from it’s genuinely disgusting. Every time you open comments on a post regarding this topic it’s a war between Tunisians being racist and Tunisians standing up for their fellow Africans, which there are many of us. But yeah, I wanted to know what you all think of this, and how you think we can make things better for ourselves and our visitors. Personally I think that our continent is very beautiful and diverse, and that is something to be cherished and protected. I believe we should all unite and stand up to our past (and present) colonizers rather than turn on each other. Cheers. submitted by /u/tinybabyyy [link] [comments]
